The intern cat showed up on the first day in a suit that didn't quite fit. It smiled at everyone. It was handed a laptop and a badge and access to things nobody thought to take back.
The manager who hired it left six months later. The onboarding document was never updated. The intern cat kept showing up, kept getting CC'd, kept saying yes to everything. It has been promoted three times. Nobody is entirely sure how.
Every office has one. The person who outlasted everyone who hired them. Who got access to the shared drive by accident and was never removed. Who schedules meetings in rooms they've never been in.
The intern cat is not confused. It is comfortable. It sends follow-up emails at 11pm. It has a standing one-on-one with the CFO that neither of them remembers setting up. It runs the place now.
